Open or Closed Cell Spray Foam?

Both foam types air-seal and insulate — but each shines in different applications. Here's how KFI helps Mountain Home property owners choose.

Open Cell Spray Foam

A softer, lower-density foam (~0.5 lb/ft³) with an R-value of about R-3.5 per inch. It expands aggressively to fill irregular cavities and acts as an excellent sound dampener.

  • Interior walls & ceilings
  • Sound dampening for media rooms & bedrooms
  • Vaulted ceilings & roof decks
  • Cost-effective full-cavity fill

Closed Cell Spray Foam

A dense, rigid foam (~2 lb/ft³) at roughly R-6.5 per inch. It blocks moisture, adds structural strength, and qualifies as a vapor barrier — the go-to for metal buildings, basements, and exterior applications.

  • Metal buildings, pole barns & shops
  • Basements, crawl spaces & foundations
  • Roof decks in hot, humid climates
  • Adds racking strength to framing
